Motivation & Goal Setting
If you are not successful in your home based business, one of the major reasons why you have failed will be due to lack of motivation and goal setting. No instruction or text on how to be successful in affiliate marketing could be complete without at least touching on this subject, because it is absolutely critical. Motivation and goal setting are two different things. Motivation is a complex area and the subject of many books and theories, but it's really not that complicated. It you don't have the motivation to do the hourly, daily, weekly and monthly tasks required to make your business successful one of the reasons will be because you have not seriously taken the time to think about your life and what you want to achieve and accomplish. But also because you have not thought about how broke, indebt, miserable and depressed you will be if you don't make your business successful. Right now (yes right now!) make a list of 5 non-tangible things that would make you happy and successful, for example: I want to be my own boss I want to work from home and choose my hours I want to be debt free in retirement... etc Now, also right down 5 things that will occur if you don't make a success of your business, for example: I'll have to continue in this job that I hate I'll have to keep commuting 2 hours every day I'll be broke in retirement... etc Now, write these 10 items on small piece of paper and keep it in your wallet or purse, and read it everyday. Make a few copies and place then where you will read them on a regular basis, on your desk etc. This simple exercise will help you to keep motivated. Goal setting is more straight forward, now that you are motivated you need very specific goals to aim for. For example: I will learn how autoresponders work this week I will design an affiliate website within the next 30 days 6 months from now my home business will make $500 per month. Again the best way to make this real is to write them down on paper, this is critical, carry this list with you and read it often. While your motivational concepts will on the whole stay the same, your list of goals will and should be continually updated as you achieve them and cross them off. This is the nuts and bolts of motivation and goal setting. I've read a number books and listened to a few tapes. One motivational speaker and trainer that I would recommend 100% is Brian Tracy. I've bought a couple of his products and they are superb. This guy is good and knows what he is talking about. I tried listening to Anthony Robins but he is not my style, too much self ego. Checkout Brian Tracy if you want to become highly motivated, whatever field you are in and whatever you want to achieve.
