 Website Security and Hacking

Website security!, why do I need to be concerned about this you may ask?. After you have been trying to run a business on the internet for any length of time you will soon learn that it's very important. So you may as well get into good habits right from the start.

There are all sorts of reasons why security is important, here are a few that you should be aware of:

  • Affiliate Link Hacking

  • Website Hacking

  • Protection Of Privacy

  • Email Spam

  • Commission Hijacking

Affiliate link hacking occurs when you use an affiliate link which clearly displays to the user that it is an affiliate link. A good example is a raw link from Clickbank. It is relatively easy for a potential customer to see that this is an affiliate link. With a little investigation and effort the user can then either remove your Clickbank nickname or substitute their own, either way the result is that you will not earn a commission on that sale. When you have dozens of links on your websites this can amount to a sizeable amount of lost profits over the course of a year.

The solution is very simple and easy to implement. Simply encrypt your affiliate using one of the many available tools. The one that I use is called HTML Code Guard and is very good and highly recommended.

Website hacking is not confined just to large corporate companies or the USA defense computers, people will hack into your little affiliate website or ebook site. They will do this for many reasons, but one of the main ones is to see if they can find some products to download for free rather than paying for them.

But more seriously they may search for sensitive information or just corrupt your website, for fun or just the hell of it.

There are many actions and techniques that you can take to help to protect your website
